OUR STORY
LOCATED ON THE BEAUTIFUL HIGH DESERT PLAINS OF SOUTHERN COLORADO
We are a family of four that has fallen in love with the Goldendoodle! Our story begins when our beloved golden retriever started having seizures that medication could not control. Our vet then advised us that if she continued to have seizures it would eventually cause a very painful death. We made the very difficult and heart breaking choice to have her put to sleep. We were heart broken. When we finally decided to find a new puppy to fill our lives, we couldn't decide which breed we wanted. The kids wanted another golden retriever. I, on the other hand, loved our golden retriever very much, but was very tired of cleaning up dog hair! I wanted a dog that didn't shed! We looked and looked and just couldn't find a dog that was like the golden retriever that didn't shed!
One day, when my husband was at work, a coworker told him about her Labradoodle. He came home and started looking on the internet at them and discovered the Goldendoodle. It was love at first sight! And so we got our first Goldendoodle....Sugar.
Our son Levi, has Autism and Sugar was wonderful with him. When my mother in law met Sugar she encouraged me to start breeding Goldendoodles. You see, she was a breeder for 35 years and was so impressed with Sugar's temperament that she felt it would be wonderful to be a part of sharing Goldendoodles with others. And so we did! We found a wonderful standard poodle named Conner to breed to and our first F1B Goldendoodles arrived!
The experience of breeding was remarkable for our son. As he helped me raise the puppies, he started to relate to them and learn from them. He started to understand certain social skills and some of his sensory problems started to disappear! We have been greatly blessed by raising these wonderful dogs and have also had the privilage of placing some of our puppies in homes that have children with Autism and other special needs. Goldendoodles are highly social and have a wonderful way of reaching these children! We love it when we can place one of our puppies in a home with a special needs child!
We have now been raising them for several years and plan to keep raising them!
